Project Overview
A practical, skills-focused lesson designed for Direct Support Professionals and caregivers in IDD environments. This project introduces the 4Rs Framework—Recognize, Reflect, Respond, Restore—to help staff navigate conflict with clarity, calm, and confidence. Created in partnership with IntellectAbility LLC, the course strengthens caregivers’ ability to handle some of the most challenging moments of their work.
Problem Solved
Caregivers often face fast-escalating conflict driven by communication differences, sensory needs, and emotional overwhelm. They needed a simple, repeatable approach to respond without escalating the situation. The 4Rs Framework provides exactly that.
My Role
I served as the Instructional Designer responsible for lesson structure, content writing, activity design, SME collaboration, and full development inside Storyline 360 with use of Synthesia.
Learning Objectives
Learners are able to:
Identify early signs of conflict
Analyze before reacting
Use calm, person-centered responses
Restore trust after the moment
Short Reflection on Impact
The course equipped caregivers with a clear, shared method for navigating tense or emotionally charged moments. By giving teams common language and predictable steps, the 4Rs Framework improved communication, increased confidence, and reduced unnecessary escalation. Organizations reported more consistent support across staff, stronger relationships with individuals receiving services, and a noticeable improvement in overall stability within care environments.
